Dies May 27th

Eastern Star Conducts
Mary Bayes Funeral

Mrs. Mary Bayes, 82, Second Street, Paintsville, died Sunday
morning in a local hospital after a long illness.

She was born in Magoffin County on November 14, 1862, the daughter
of William and Barbara Ann Estep Fairchilds.

She was married to Dr. Francis Marion Bayes who preceded her in
death several years ago.

She is survivied by two daughter, Murah Bayes Hazelrigg, city,
(sic) and Mrs. Malta Bayes Bailey, Oil Springs, one sister Minta
Fairchilds, Flora, Ill., three grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.

Mrs. Bayes was a life-long member of the First Christian Church of
Paintsville and was active in the life of the church.  She was also
a charter member of the Paintsville Chapter, Order of the Eastern
Star.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the First Christian Church
by Rev. J. N. Mostoller and burial ceremony was conducted by the
Paintsville Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.  The following State
officers of the order participated in the ceremony; Mrs. Lorraine
Payne, Worthy Grand Matron, Helen Gross, Grand Chaplain, Josephine
Harkins Browning, Past Worthy Grand Matron and Mae Mobayed, Past
Grand Chaplain. Pallbearers were Oliver Jenkins, Glenn Powell, M.O.
Wheeler, V.P. Horne, W.B. Bailey, Frank Chandler, Clarence Cooper
and Guy Conley.

Burial was made in the Fairchilds cemetery under the direction of
the undertaking department of the Paintsville Furniture Company.
