JAMES K. P. AUXIER
1925-1954

James Knox Polk Auxier, 29, printer at the Paintsville Herald for
a number of years, died suddenly at his home at East Point Monday
morning from a gunshot wound.

A member of a family widely known in this section, he was born at
Van Lear June 18, 1925, the son of Mrs. Anna Music Auxier of East
Point and the late Milton S. Auxier.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1950, and after his
discharge returned to his employment at the Herald office, but
resigned a few weeks ago. He was affiliated with the Baptist
Church.

Surviving besides his mother are three sisters, Mrs. Douglas
Wheeler, editor and publisher of the Paintsville Herald, Mrs.
Geneva Crider, East Point, Mrs. Fannie Hall, Jacksonville, Fla;
two brothers, Samuel Auxier, Detroit, Mich., and Eugene P.
Auxier, Jenkins.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., today at the Christian
Church at East Point with the Reverend H. E. Willis of the
Southside Free Will Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial was made in the family cemetery on the J. K. P. Auxier
farm across the river from East Point.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the James and
Preston Funeral Home.
