JEFF ALLEN
Former Policeman Was Native of Lee
Jeff Allen, widely known citizen of this city, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, April 21 at his home on Main Street. He had been in ill health about three years, and death followed a stroke which he suffered a few days ago.
Mr. Allen was 68 years of age and was a native of Lee County. He had been a resident of Paintsville for the past 38 years where he had served as a member of the city police force. He had also been and oil and gas operator and had dealt in real estate.
He was a member of the United Brethern Church, and the Daughters of America.
He was born Sept. 13, 1889 a son of the late Richard and Sally Ann Rader Allen.
Mr. Allen had many friends in this city and county who will be saddened to learn of his death.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen Jane Dishman Allen, and the following half-brothers and sisters; Mrs. Mary Haney, Paintsville; Mrs. Emily Witt, Grey Hawk, Ky.; Mrs. Ella Emery and Mrs. Pearlie Chaney, both of Irvine, Ky., Mrs. Minnie Flannery, Arvel Ky., Andy Mayse, Baltiomore, Md., and George Allen, Irvine, Ky..
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Aprill 24, at the Third Street Freewill Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the Wells-Buckingham Cemetery here.
