RENDA ADKINS
1874-1948

Mrs. Renda (Keaton) Adkins, 74, died Saturday at her home at Davis
Branch after an illness of many years from cancer. Mrs. Adkins was
the wife of James Henry Adkins who survives.

She was the daughter of the late Mobeta and Rebecca Lester
Keaton, and had been a resident of Johnson County all her life.

She was a member of the United Baptist Church.

Surviving are the following children, William Adkins, city, Samuel
Adkins, Mann, W. Va., Edison Adkins, Van Lear, Bennie Adkins,
city, Emerson Adkins, Van Lear, Huey Adkins, Mann, W. Va., rs.
Martha Wheatley, Auxier, and Mrs. Clyde Tackett, city. She is
also survived by seven sisters and one brother: Mrs. Nancy K.
Holbrook, city, Mrs. James Barker,Louisa, Mrs. Robert Ferguson,
Dingus Ky., Mrs. James Montgomery, city, Mrs. John Cantrell, Elam,
Mrs. Ira Smith, city, Mrs. Oscar Stapleton, Van Lear, and Lewis
Keaton, West Van Lear. She leaves a number of grandchildren and
several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Nancy Holbrook at
Davis Branch at 10 a.m. October 19 by Revs. Leonard Walters, Elzie
Banks, and Hermie Davis.

Burial was made in the family cemetery at Davis Branch under the
direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
