JAMES HENRY ADKINS 1878-1957 Dies Saturday Rites Held Monday For King Addn. Man James Henry Adkins, 79, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday in a local hospital following an illness of one week. He had been a resident of King Addition for Thirty years Born March 4, 1878, in Morgan County, he was the on of Riley and Ellen Bowling Adkins. A member of the United Baptist Church, he was a farmer by occupation. His wife, Renda Adkins, preceded him in death in 1943. Surviving are five sons, William Adkins of this city, Sam Adkins of Van Lear, Bennie Adkins of Davis Branch, Huey Adkins of Mann, W. VA, two daughters, Mrs. Martha Weakley of Van Lear and Mrs. Rebecca Tackett of King Additions, and 43 grandchildren. He was later married to Mary VanHoose, who survives. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday from the home of Winnie Holbrook at Davis Branch with John Crum, John Pelphrey and Elizie Banks as officiating ministers. Burial was made in the family cemetery at Davis Branch. His grandchildren served as pallbearers Paintsville Herald Wednesday 8-7-1957
