Funeral Services To Be Held Friday
For Prominent Woman
Miranda Daniel Van Hoose, 81, mother of Senator Wendell Van
Hoose, of Tutor Key, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in a local
hospital after an illness of several months. She was the widow
of Fred Van Hoose, a former state senator from this district
who died in 1944. He was one of the leading fruit growers in
Eastern Kentucky.
Mrs. Van Hoose was one of the county's most respected women
and she leaves a large family of relatives and friends
throughout this area who are saddened by news of her passing.
Born May 14, 1875 in the Toms Creek vicinity, she was a
daughter of William and Rachel Van Hoose Daniel. She was a
member of the United Baptist Church and was a devout
Christian, always interested in the spiritual welfare of her
community, and devoted to her home, family, and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Preston, Tutor Key;
Mrs. Anna Ruth Wheeler, Fairborn, O.; two sons, Senator
Wendell Van Hoose and Perry Van Hoose, member of the Johnson
County Board of Education, both of Tutor Key; fourteen
grandchildren an 12 great grandchildren.
She leaves also the following step-children, Hobart VanHoose,
Brooklyn, W. Va., Roger Van Hoose, Toledo, Ohio, Quimby Van
Hoose, Tutor, Key, Mrs. Edna Sparks, Toledo, Ohio, one
brother, W. E. Daniel, Seco, Ky., and one sister, Mrs. Emma
Spears, city.
Services will be held at 11:00 Friday morning at the United
Baptist Church at Tudor Key with Reverand Cullie Sparks
officiating.
Burial will be made in the Van Hoose Cemetery at Tutor Key
under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
