BURNS VANHOOSE
1889 1968
Burns VanHoose, 78, died Tuesday, March 5 1968, in a local
hospital after an illness of one year.
A retired miner, he was born in Buchanna, the son of Bascom and
Julia Hylton VanHoose, on November 25 1889.
He had lived at Thealka for many years and was affiliated with the
Freewill Baptist Church.
His wife, the former Bernice Byrd, preceded him in death on Feb.12
1963.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Alta Lee Preston of Thealka;
five brothers and sisters, Lesie VanHoose, of Paintsville; Arthur
VanHoose, of Estill; Mrs. Nellie Preston, and Beulah VanHoose, of
Paintsville; and Mrs, Zelda Bailey, of Ashland; four grandchildren
and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 8 in the Mouth of Rush
Freewill Baptist Church at Nippa, with Rev. C.C. Hall officiating.
Special music was provided by the Tom's Creek Quartet.
Burial followed in the VanHoose Cemetery at Nippa under the
direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were, Charlie B. VanHoose, Marshall
VanHoose, Joe VanHoose, Harold VanHoose, Hobie VanHoose,
and Tobie VanHoose.
