BERNICE VANHOOSE
1903-1963
Mrs. Bernice Van Hoose 59, resident of Thealka, died in a local
hospital at 9:52 a.m., Monday, February from the effects of a
stroke. She had been ill for the past three years.
A daughter of Ballard and Alice Barker Byrd, she was born April 2,
1903, at Cannel City and had lived at Thealka for forty-five years.
She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Burns Van Hoose, a son, Burns Van Hoose,
Jr., Philadelphia, Penn; a daughter, Mrs. Alta Lee Preston,
Thealka; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Roop, Estill; Mrs. Madeline
Woodal, Georgetown; Mrs. Gladys Daniel, Ashland. Also surviving
are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:0 a.m., today at the Mouth of
Rush Free Will Baptist Church with Claude Preston as officiating
minister.
Burial was in the Van Hoose Cemetery at Nippa.
