LESLIE SOARD
1894-1962

Leslie Soard, 68, well-known resident of Van Lear, died at 8:20 p.m.,
Saturday in a local hospital following a brief illness.

The son of the late Andrew and Julia Young Soard, he was born in
Lawrence County July 1, 1894, and had lived at Van Lear for the past
forty-five years.

Prior to his retirement he was employed as a miner. His wife, Faye
Meade Soard, preceded him in death October 9, 1946.

Surviving are four sons, Leslie Soard, Jr., Elkhart, IN; Charles
Soard, Kewanee, IL; Ernest Soard, Van Lear; Douglas Soard, Elwood,
IN; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Miller, Osceola, IN; Mrs. Dorothy
Mann, Charleston, WV; Mrs. Gladys Ferguson, Van Lear; a sister, Mrs.
Ethel Potter, Louisa.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the West
Van Lear Church of Christ with Rev. S. C. Honeycutt as officiating
minister.

Burial was in the Club House Cemetery at Van Lear.
