Joseph Sheader, 70, a resident of Van Lear since 1940 and a retired
safety engineer for the Consolidation Coal Company, at Jenkins, died
Friday night from a self-inflicted bullet wound at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. J. T. Mather, at Van Lear. Ill health was blamed as
the cause of his act members of the family said.

He was well and favorably known throughout the Big Sandy Valley area
and was active in Masonic work. He was a member of the Blue Lodge at
Jenkins, and the India Consistory, Masons, at Covington, and was a
member of the Van Lear Eastern Star.
