COLUMBUS SALYER
1876-1961

Columbus Salyer, 84, retired farmer of Sitka, died in a local
hospital at 1:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 1961 following a six
years’ illness.

The son of the late Ephriam and Ann Salyer Salyer, he was born in
this county August 12, 1876. He was a member of the United
Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Salyer Salyer, whom he married
August 16, 1927; three sons, Hodley Salyer, Lexington; Norman
Salyer, Columbus, O.; Miltie Salyer, Sitka; two daughters, Zellie
Ramey, Columbus, O.; Cova McKenzie, Sitka; one brother, Austin
Salyer, Thealka; Lizzie Salyer, Flat Gap. Also surviving are
twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., today from the
Bethel United Baptist Church, Flat Gap, with Lonza Reed as
officiating minister.

Burial was in the Grim Cemetery at Franks Creek.
