will officiate at funeral services in Sugar Grove United
Baptist Church at Sitka at 11 a.m., May 9, for Virgie
Sparks Rowland, 84.
Mrs Rowland died May 6, 1984 Wright Patterson Air Force
Base Hospital in Dayton Ohio.
A resident of Flat Gap, she was born March 4, 1900, in
Johnson County, the daughter of Lafe and Ellen Salyer
Sparks. She was a member of the United Baptist Church.
Her husband, Johnny Rowland, preceded her in death March
12, 1983.
Surviving are eight sons, Floyd and Lloyd Rowland, Fuget,
Joe Rowland, Enon, Ohio, Charles and Jesse Rowland,
Beaver Creek, Ohio, Robert Rowland, Lima, Ohio, Bill
Rowland, Flat Gap, and Mitchell Rowland, Fairbourn, Ohio;
four sisters, Ola Howard, Gracie, Nola and Lora Sparks,
all of Oil Springs; and two brothers Estill Sparks,
Staffordsville, and Charlie Sparks, Van Lear.
Burial will be in Sparks Cemetery at Flat Gap under the
direction of Paintsville Funeral Home.
