SILAS RATLIFF 1875-1952 Well-Known Man Dies After Long Illness Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, for Silas (Cap) Ratliff, 76, who died at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, December 26, 1952 at his home here after an illness of five years. A son of the late James and Rebecca Blanton Ratliff, he was born June 10, 1875, in Johnson County, where he had resided all his life. A retired teamster, he was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife on August 31, 1939. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Malta Whited, and a son, Addie Ratliff, both of this city. Also surviving are two half-brothers, John Elliott Ratliff, Barnetts Creek, and Paris Ratliff, Rushtown, Ohio. Services were held in the Paintsville Freewill Baptist Church by Revs. Claude Preston and C. W. Krebs. Burial was in the Huff Cemetery under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.
