RURAL DOCTOR PASSES THURSDAY OF PNEUMONIA
RITES HELD SANTURDAY FOR DR.T. R. PRESTON
Dr. T. R. Preston, 77, one of the county's outstanding physicians,
died in a local hospital at 8:10 a.m., Thursday, February 28, 1957 of
peneumonia following an illness of two weeks.
The son of the late Dr. J. M. and Mary Lemaster Preston, he was born
in Johnson County January 25, 1880.
He had a license to practice in four states, Oklahoma, Tennessee,
West Virginia, and Kentucky.
He had lived at Lowmansville for the past twenty-four years where he
was beloved and respected as a devoted public servant ministering to
the ills of the people.
He was married at Nippa May 25, 1905 to Della Daniel, who preceded
him in death October 31, 1942.
He is survived by one daughter, Ollie Gresham, Lowmansville, a
teacher in the Nancy Castle School, and one brother, J. L. Preston of
Turner Branch.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, from
the Georges Creek United Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles
Hackney, Mitchell Grim, Foster Grim and John C. Green as officiating
ministers.
Burial was in the Preston Cemetery at Lowmansville under the
direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
