Local Resident Dies Saturday Services Held Monday for Mrs. Willie
Melvin
Mrs. Agnes Fairchild Melvin, 29, wife of Willie Melvin of this city,
died in a local hospital Saturday morning.
In poor health for a number of years her death was unexpected and
came as a great shock to her many friends and relatives.
The daughter of the late Alonza and Mary Emily Caudill Fairchild, she
was born in this county September 17, 1905.
She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Donald, Douglas, and
Paul Melvin, all of this city.
Other survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Carl Stafford, city, Mrs.
Edward Salyer, and Mrs. Tom Murray, both of Kerz, Mrs. Lee Payne and
Mrs. Hurshel Sparks, both of Plain City, Ohio; three brothers, G.V.
Fairchild, Plain City, Ohio. Edward and R.C. Fairchild, both of
Springfield, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Third Street Freewill
Baptist Church with the Revs Claude Preston and W.F. Pettus
officiating.
Burial was made in the Town Cemetery under the direction of Jones and
Preston Funeral Home.
