WILLIAM D. LOWERY
William D. Lowery, age 86, died Tuesday, May 24, 1 p.m. at the
Pikeville Hospital after an extended illness.
Born June 26, 1879 in Greenville, Tennessee, he was a son of the
late Henry and Laura Barnett Lowery.
He had been a resident of Ashcamp until his death, formerly living
at Van Lear.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and had previously worked
at a lumber and saw mill.
Surviving are three sons: Woodrow, Ashcamp; William, Belvidere,
Illinois; Samuel, Pataskaia, Ohio; three daughters: Mrs. Myrtle
Woodruff and Mrs. Wanda McGray, Belvidere, Illinois; Mrs. James
Anest, Chuckey, Tennessee; and a brother Robert, Valles Creek,
The funeral was conducted Friday, May 27, 11 a.m., at Van Lear
Church of Christ with S.C. Hunnicutt officiating.
Burial took place in the Van Lear Club House Cemetery with the
Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge.
