WILEY V. HALL A heart condition resulted in the death Thursday, January 3, 1952 of Wiley V. Hall, 60, prominent Johnson Countian and former public official, who died at his home at Winfred at 7:00 p.m. after an illness of one year. Although he had been in ill health his unexpected death was a shock to his family and to a host of sorrowing friends throughout this section. A native of Johnson County he was born August 6, 1891, the son of the late Jacob C. and Martella Lemaster Hall. A former school teacher and farmer, he was active in the educational and agricultural development of the county. A man of the highest principals, he was one of the counties best loved citizens, and was held in the greatest esteem by his many friends and aquaintances. He was connected with the office of Sheriff for many years and served one term as Sheriff of Johnson County. An outstanding record of service to the people of the county was achieved in the administration of his duties, and he exhibited throughout his public career those qualities of honesty and integrety so characteristic of his nature. He was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church and a Veteran of World War 1. A son, Marvin Hall, who was killed in Korea, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cinda Ann Williams Hall, and three children; one daughter, Mrs. Dora Ann Holbrook, Winifred, and two sons, Howard Hall, Columbus, Ohio, and Earl Hall at home. A sister, Miss Rausa Hall, Flat Gap, and two half brothers; Paris Hall, Winfred and Marshall Hall, Columbus, Ohio also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 6, from the Kerz Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Daniels and Rev. C.W. Krebs officiating. Music was furnished by the Toms Creek Singers. Burial was in the family cemetery at Winifred, under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home. PAINTSVILLE HERALD JAN.10 1952 |
