John C. Green, Retired Miner, Dies Wednesday
Funeral services were conducted Saturday from the Georges Creek
United Baptist Church for John C. Green, 70, resident of
Lowmansville, who died in a local hospital, November 13 1957.
Death was attributed to flu and occured after an illness of three
weeks.
A retired miner he had made his home at Lowmansville for the past
forty-five years. He was born December 4, 1886, in Lawrence County,
the son of George and Mary Ramey Green.
He was married March 23, 1908, in Ironton, Ohio, to the former Ella
Castle, who survives. Also surviving are three children; two sons,
Ira Green, Lowmansville, Ora green, Ashland; one daughter, Ollie Mae
Preston, Columbus, Ohio.
He also leaves the following brothers and sisters; Minuard Green,
Chandlerville, J. J. Green, City. Sam Green, Lowmansville, Frank and
Lawrence, both of Ohio; Pherbia Jane Castle, city, Zora Sparks,
Lowmansville, Melissa Sparks, Lowmansville.
Officiating ministers were Willie Daniel, Jarrett Cordle and Florida
Lyons.
Burial was in the family cemetery at Lowmansville.
