Ballard Conley, 84, retired farmer and widely known
citizen of this county died Saturday, March 4, (1950) at
4:00 p.m. at his home at Riceville after an illness of
several months.
He was born in Johnson County on April 1, 1866, the son
of David and Nancy Conley and had been a resident of the
Riceville section throughout his entire life.
Surviving are his wife, Dove Lemaster Conley, five
daughters, Mrs. Edd Sparks, Barnetts Creek, Mrs. Moody
Bayes, Catlettsburg, Mrs. Lacy Patrick, Ivyton, Mrs. Tom
Lemaster and Mrs. Trimble Lemaster, both of Riceville;
four sons, Paris Conley and Tom Conley, both of Riceville
and Harrison Conley and Frank Conley, both of Ashland.
Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Ida Conley, and Miss
Etta Conley of Oil Springs.
Funeral services were held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the
Freewill Baptist Church at Riceville by Rev. Scott Castle
and Rev. Charley Lemaster.
Song services were by the Paintsville Quartet.
Burial was made in the Price Cemetery at Oil Springs
under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
