MOTHER OF LOCAL MAN DIES IN SALYERSVILLE

Mrs. James Columbus, 54, mother of Henry Evans of this city, died at
her home in Salyersville at 7:30 p.m., May 25, (1949) after an
illness of two years of cancer.

Mrs. Columbus was born in this county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James Harvey. She was affiliated with the Missionary Baptist Church.
For the past three months she had resided in Salyersville.

Surviving are her husband, Mr. James Columbus, one son, Henry Evans,
and four daughters, Mrs. Roy M. Sowards, Jenkins, Miss Josephine
Columbus and Miss Garnett Columbus both of Salyersville, and Miss
Rosie Columbus of Louisville. Surviving also is one sister, Mrs.
Lydia Evans of this city.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Freewill Baptist Church at
2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, (1949) by Revs. Willard Wilcox and W.L.
Hopper.

Burial will be in the Town cemetery under the direction of the
Preston Funeral Home.
