SOLDIER BOY VICTIM OF OPERATION

Charles Castle, 23, Dies At Fort Custer, Michigan

The body of a county youth, Charles Castle, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Chilt Castle, Van Lear, was shipped to the Paintsville Furniture
Company for burial last Friday.

Young Castle was a soldier in the U. S. Army stationed at Fort
Custer, Mich. He died following an operation for appendicitis
performed three days previous.

Young Castle was 23 years old and had enlisted in the Army at
Paintsville three months ago.

Besides his parents he is survived by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of a sister, Mrs. Jim
King, Van Lear, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock.

Burial was made in the Van Lear Cemetery in charge of the
Paintsville Furniture Co.

Note: This cemetery is also known as the "Clubhouse Cemetery".
