LEWIS BEECHER BUTCHER
1895-1966
Lewis Beecher Butcher, age 71, died March 31, 1966, 10:20 p.m. at
his home of an apparent heart attack.
Born January 13, 1895 at Williamsport, the son of Henry and Agnes
Lawrence Butcher. He was a lifetime resident of Williamsport.
His wife, Ollie Williams Butcher, preceded him in death August 3,
1964.
His surviving sons include Beecher Butcher, Jr., Eldorado, Kansas;
Danny B. Butcher, Wharton, West Virginia; Paul Butcher, Pikeville;
Doug and Ivan Butcher, Meally; Henry Butcher, Miamisburg, Ohio;
Donnis Butcher, Dearborn, Michigan; and Jimmy Butcher, Dayton,
Ohio.
Surviving daughters include Mrs. Jo Mills, Paintsville; Mrs.
Kathleen Penix, Williamsport; Mrs. Georgene Barnett, Stanton; and
Mrs. Anita Gay Walters, Miamisburg, Ohio.
Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Edna Ward, Williamsport;
twenty-five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday, April 4, 10:00 a.m. at the Old
Friendship United Baptist Church with Earl Muncy, Glen Arrowood,
and Nim Sturgill officiating. His grandsons served as pallbearers.
The place of burial was at the Beecher Butcher Cemetery in
Williamsport under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
