JAMES KENDRICK BLANTON 1945 James Kendrick Blanton, 27, of Volga, veteran of general Patton's Army, died Wednesday at noon in the Methodist Hospital at Pikeville of a skull fracture sustained Tuesday when the truck which he was driving overturned on a hill above Pikeville. He did not regain consciousness following the injury. It is reported at the time of the accident, Blanton was driving truck for a Pikeville coal company and the wreck was thought to have been caused by the slipery condition of the road, causing him to lose control of the truck. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Blanton of Volga and had served three years in the European theatre of war. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Ruby Jewell McCarthy. Funeral services will be held tomorrow, December 14, at 11 o'clock at the parents home on Stonecoal. Burial will be mde in the family cemetery under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
