DIES AUGUST 23 IN VETERANS HOSPITAL
Andy J. Blanton, 44, of Thelma, died August 23, 1:30 p.m., in the
Cincinnati V. A, Hospital following an illness of two years.
Born March 18, 1911, he was the son of Clinton Blanton and Stella
Patrick Blanton.
He held four distinguished medals of honor and was a disabled
veteran.
He was employed as a construction worker.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Fraley Blanton: six sons, Andy
Blanton, Jr. of Oil Springs; Arnold Blanton of Covington; Danny B.
Blanton, Michael, Stoney and James Clinton of Thelma; five
daughters, Mrs. Jackie Cantrell of Beattyville; Joann Blanton,
Susie, Andra Lynn and Patricia Gay of Thelma; three brothers,
Virgil Blanton, of Columbus, Ohio; Clinten Blanton, Jr. of Oak
Hill, Ohio; and Charles R. Blanton, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla: three
sisters, Mrs. Hershel Winters and Miss Grace Blanton of Rio
Grande, Ohio; Mrs. Bob Tope, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Funeral services were held August 26, 11:00 a.m. in the Taird St.
Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. C. C. Hall officiating.
Graveside rites were held by the Paintsville Chapter of the D. A.
V. at the Blanton Cemetery, Thelma.
Burial services were conducted by the Preston Funeral Home.
