 JOHN E. GILCHRIST

Dies December 14 At Paintsville John Elwart Gilchrist, 84, died on
Thursday, December 14, 1967, 11:30 p.m. in a local hospital, after
a brief illness.

A native of Lexington, he was the son of the late John and Mattie
Ballard Gilchrist.

He had been a resident of Paintsville for the last twenty-four
years and was a retired employee of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway
Co.

A member of the Masonic Lodge, he was an elder of the First
Christian Church of Paintsville.

He and his wife, the former Elsie Gilson, celebrated their 61st
anniveresary this past August.

Survivors including his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. J.A. Morrison,
of Paintsville; three sons, Irvin of Brunson, Michigan; and Albert
and Elmer of Lexington.

Also surviving are one brother, Alex Gilchrist, of Louisville; and
two sisters, Mrs. Charles Marshall and Mrs. Lon Osborne, both of
Lexington.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 17, 2:30 p.m., in the
First Christian Church with the Rev. Jerry Ginnan officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were, Paul Brown, Paul Lockwood, Nathan
Williams, L. Siler, Jim Stambaugh, and Forest Mollette.

Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park with the Jones- Preston
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
