John P. Fitch, 88, of West Van Lear, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006
at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
 
Born Feb. 8, 1918, in Johnson County, he was a son of the late
Albert and Leona Meek Fitch. He was a retired coal miner.
  
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Wells Fitch,
in 1998; and a son, Robert Ray May.
  
Survivors include two sons, Larry Fitch of Van Lear, and Gary K.
Fitch of West Van Lear; a daughter, Kathy Fitch Jenkins of
Salyersville; a brother, Burl Fitch of Meally; two sisters, Nola
Penix of Paintsville, and Lida Trimble of Hazard; three
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 5, at Jones-Preston Funeral
Home Chapel, Paintsville, with Roger Goble officiating.
  
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under
direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
