AT ROCK HOUSE

Levi Fairchild, 77, president of West Van Lear, died in a local
hospital at 12:20 a.m. Monday April 22, 1959, following a brief
illness.

Mr. Fairchild, a native of this county, was born April 11, 1882
the son of Asa and Sara Ratcliffe Fairchild. He had made his home
at West Van Lear for the past several months and prior to his
retirement engaged in farming.

His wife Lucy Hitchcock Fairchild preceded him in death May 9,
1953.

Surviving are six sons, Son Fairchild of this city; Russell,
Walter, Espie, Virgil and Arthur Fairchild all of Staffordsville;
four daughters, Mrs. Alma Conley of this city; Mrs. Grace Preston;
Minford, Ohio; Mrs. Alice Henson, Lexington; Mrs. Alta Pelphrey,
West Van Lear; one brother Ed Fairchild, Staffordsville; one
sister, Nola Hannah, Barnetts Creek. Also surviving are fifty-five
grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted from the Rock House Freewill
Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. today with Claude Preston, Scott
Castle and C. C. Hall officiating. Music was by the Tom Creek
Singers and the Paintsville Quartet.

Burial was in the Staffordsville Cemetery.
