LORENE AKERS

Van Lear resident Lorene Akers, 79, died Tuesday, November 21,2000 at
her residence.

Mrs. Akers was born April 13, 1921, in Johnson County, to the late
Gervin and Frankie Phelps Short.

Surviving are three sons, Johnny Akers of Roseville, California, David
Akers of Richmond and Denny Akers of Cynthiana; two daughters, Freda
Spears of Forest City, North Carolina, and Francis Cantrell of Van Lear;
three sisters, Lottie Conley of Paintsville and Ruth Collins and Dee
Campigott, both of Dayton, Ohio.

Funeral services were held Friday at Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Hager
Hill, with Jerry Scott officiating.

Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
