James Burchett 
1934-2004 

James Millard Burchett, 70, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2004, in King's Daughters
Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Burchett was born March 1, 1934, in Chandlerville, Ky., a son of the late Willie J. and
America Castle Burchett.

He was a retired machinist with National Moines Service Company, a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force,
a member of the American Legion of Ashland and the Eagles of Ashland and attended the 13th Street
Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Glenn Burchett; and one brother, Ralph Burchett.

Surviving are his wife of 51 1/2 years, Margaret Harrell Burchett; one son, Jimmie Burchett and
his wife, Patrice, of Boyd County; one daughter, Betty Marie Burchett and her husband, Jim
Thissen, of New Albany, Ohio; one brother, Lonzo Burchett of Ashland; one sister, Sarah Ellen
Jones and her husband, Donald, of Hamilton, Ohio; five grandchildren; Jennifer McMahan, Christa
Burchett, Amiee Burchett, Stephanie Burchett and Dustin Burchett; and three great-grandchildren,
Jaylan Baggett, Jordyn Burchett and Nathan McMahan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, at Caniff Funeral Home in
Westwood by the Rev. Jack Skeens and the Rev. Steve Williams. Burial will follow in Dixon
Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Kenova American Legion Post 93.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the services on Monday at the
funeral home.

The family has requested that memorials take the form of donations to the 13th Street Freewill
Baptist Church, 3430 13th Street, Ashland, KY 41101.
