BREWER, Kennie R. 2009 OUT OCT post Kennie Ray Brewer, 65, of South Shore, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born Oct. 25, 1943, in Paintsville, Ky., a son of the late Kennie Brewer and O. Marie Lockwood Brewer. He was a retired machinist for the former National Mine Service Co. in Wurtland, Ky. He was a member of South Shore First Christian Church, a U.S. Marine, and a member of Cpl. Tim Bauer Detachment 720 of Portsmouth, Ohio, and James L. Flannery American Legion Post 276 of South Shore. Surviving are a son and his wife, Jay (Tracy) Brewer of Kaihoua, Hawaii; a daughter and her husband, Melissa (Jeff) Holmes of Portsmouth; a sister, Sheila K. Smith of Lexington, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Caden Holmes, Natasha Brewer and Casey Holmes. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 21, 2009, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore with Bill Hayden and Danny Bentley, ministers, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in South Shore. Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home. Military graveside service will be by James L. Flannery American Legion Post 276 of South Shore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
