SAM BRANHAM Sam Branham, 60-year-old retired Nippa miner, passed away in an Ashland hospital on August 17. He had suffered an extended illness prior to his death. He was born in East Point to the late Elish and Maggie Franklin Branham. Survivors include his wife, Lora Ratliff Branham; three sons, William C. Branham of St. Charles, Ill., Paul E. Branham of Paintsville and Craig V. Branham of Nippa; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Malta Burton of Cattlettsburg and Mrs. Garnet Young of Chicago, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Mae Lee of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Lillian Thompson of Toledo, Ohio. Charles Stapleton, Harry Ratliff and Millard VanHoose conducted services on August 20, in the Mouth of Rush Freewill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Burial Park at Ashland, under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home. Paintsville Herald Wednesday 9-1-1971
