Gladys Bailey
1908-1996

Former Johnson County resident Gladys Bailey, 88, died Monday, December 16, 1996, at Columbia
Hospital in Lexington.

Mrs. Bailey was born March 16,1908, in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Sherman and
Emaline Price Rice.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wallace M. Bailey, in 1980.

Surviving are one son, James Bailey of Lexington; one daughter, Carolyn Cook of Lexington; one
brother, Sherman Rice Jr. of Riceville; one sister, Ruth Meek of Paintsville; and four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 20, at the residence of Sherman Rice, with Drew
Martin officiating.

Burial was in Rice Family Cemetery at Riceville, with Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
