Harry *Franklin Van Bebber passed away in Eureka, California last Saturday, December 21, after an illness extending over the past two years from stomach trouble.
For several weeks past he had been very low and the end was not unexpected. His wife, Mrs. Hattie Van Bebber, Inez, and son, Harry and other members of the family from Willits were with him at the end.
Harry Van Bebber was born in Napa county, Jun 1, 1895, and at the age of two years moved with his parents to Humboldt county, where the family lived for several years, later moving to Willits which has been the family home ever since. He had been employed by the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Company at South Fork and Eureka for about 14 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Fireman.
Funeral services were held in Willits from the Anker & Cleland chapel Monday afternoon, under the auspices of the Off Fellows lodge, of which he was a member. Rev. G. H. Jones officiated and the remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Besides his widow and two children, deceased is survived by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Van Bebber of Willits, six brothers, Charles, William and Fred, of Willits, James and Ray, of Texas, and Thomas, of Bakersfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Cleveland, of Eureka, Mrs. Nellie Snow, of Paxton, and Mrs. Annie Talbert, of Sausalito.

FORT BRAGG - Longtime coast resident Ila P. Johnson, 75, of Fort Bragg died Thursday at her daughter's home near Caspar following a long illness.
Johnson was born near Willits, where she was reared and educated. She graduated from Willits High School in 1934. She moved to Fort Bragg in 1947 where she settled and reared her family.
She loved the outdoors, was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time on the beach.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Arnott of Mendocino, and two grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Chapel by the Sea in Fort Bragg. Burial will follow at Ocean View Cemetery in Fort Bragg.
