Rebecca Bryan was the youngest of the six children of Rebecca Enox and James Bryan, who after the death of their mother were reared by their cousin, Rebecca Bryan Boone, a niece of James Bryan.
Hugh Logan ran away from his home in Ireland when he was about fourteen years old; his life as a sailor for three years brought him to America and Philadelphia. From there he made his way to Kentucky, during the first settlement of the state, where he married Rebecca Bryan, at the home of her cousin, Rebecca Bryan Boone, wife of Daniel Boone. Hugh Logan was drowned in Fleming's Creek, Kentucky while attempting to swim a race horse across the stream.

After the death of James Smith, the second husband of Rebecca Bryan Logan, Jonathan and David Bryan, about 1810, moved their widowed sister and her family to Missouri. She settled in Montgomery County on South Bear Creek, where she died about twenty years Later.
ref. : "Pioneer Families of Missouri"
LOGAN, Hugh Logan was born in Ireland. At the age of 15 years he had a difficulty with his father, and ran away from home and went to sea. He followed the life of a sailor for three years, and then landed at
Philadelphia, and made his way from there to KY., during the first settlement of that state. He married REBECCA BRYAN, a sister of JONATHAN, DAVID AND HENRY BRYAN, who had been raised by her aunt, MRS. DANIEL BOONE; her mother having died while she was young. Their children were William, Alexander, Hugh, Jr., Henry (called "Ross") and Mary A. Mr. Logan was drowned in Fleming's creek, KY., while attempting to swim a race horse across the stream, and his body was not found until twenty-four hours afterward. The night before his death he had a singular premonition of his approaching fate in a dream, in which the catastrophe of the following day was clearly depicted. He related the dream to his wife, who tried to persuade him not to go near the creek that day; but he laughed at her for being scared at a dream, and met his death as above stated.

For almost twenty years after her marriage Rebecca Bryan Boone and her children lived on the Yadkin, alone during the many months her husband was in Kentucky exploring and hunting. In March 1771, after having been in Kentucky for almost two years, Daniel Boone returned to his family. In September 1773, with six families and forty men, he left the cabin on the Yadkin and started on the dangerous journey to Boonesborough. At Cumberland Gap the party was attacked by Indians who killed six men, including sixteen year old James Boone, the oldest son of Rebecca and Daniel. So disheartened were the members of the group that all returned to their former homes except Daniel Boone who with his family retreated to Fort Blackmore on the Clinch River in Virginia, where his family remained for about two years and where his oldest daughter Susannah married William Hays.
When the Wilderness Road had been cut out and Fort Boonesborough was ready for occupancy, Daniel Boone returned to the Clinch River for his family and again started to Kentucky. His wife and daughters were the first white women to stand on the banks of the Kentucky River and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Hays, was the first white child born in Kentucky.
