| This picture was probably taken in the period 1908 - 1909 when James Keene was a pastor in Denver, Pa, not too far from Reading where the rest of the Keene and Kershner families lived. In this period, say spring of 1909, John Keene (left front) would have been about 3 1/2 years old and Calvin (right front) would have been about 9 months old. The other child in the rear of the picture is Gaylord Kershner, the son of George and Gertie Kershner, who would have been about three. The families would have found it easier than usual to get together for picnics and reunions when living at a not-very-great distance from each other. Otherwise I believe that they saw each other rarely. From left, the adults are Charles Keehn, Sadie Shoop Keehn, George Kershner, Gertie Stover Kershner, Ida Keene, Nora Kershner Keene, and James Keene. |
