Long Lake "Y" and "Z" Families

YAGLE

 Joseph Yagle was born in 1878/1883 in Michigan (f=GER,m=MI). Joseph was married around 1901/1902 to Jessie Mae. Jessie was born in 1879/1884 in Michigan (f=MI,m=PA). In 1910, the Yagles owned a farm in Long Lake twp[1]. Joseph died on 28 July 1950. Jessie died on 6 Feb. 1965. They are buried in Linwood Cemetery[2].

YOUKER

John G Youker was born in 1856/1857 in New York, son of Henry and Priscilla Youker (f=NY, m=PA). In 1870, John lived with his parents in Blair twp[3].  He was a farmer living in Blair twp when he was married on 28 May 1882 at the Silver Lake schoolhouse to Ruth Nephew. G W Youker performed the ceremony, which was witnessed by Edgar Cole of Kasson and Esther M Liller of Blair twp[4]. Ruth Nephew was born in 1863/1864 in New York, daughter of XXXX and Martha Nephew. Ruth had lived in Long Lake twp prior to her marriage. John was a farmer. John died from typhoid fever on 24 January 1894 (37-1-5) in Traverse City[5]. His obituary appeared in the Grand Traverse Herald on 25 January 1894 (page 5):

 Death of John G. Youker

John G. Youker died at his home on W. Ninth street at 10 o'clock last evening, aged 37 years. Mr. Youker was taken sick with the grip some eight weeks ago, but improved greatly and was doing well until early January, when he was attacked with malarial fever, and failed rapidly and surely until his death. Mr. Youker was the son of Henry and Priscilla Youker, was born in Andover, N. Y., Jan. 10, 1857, and came to Grand Traverse with his parents in 1866. In 1875 he was converted in camp meeting, held under Rev. A. P. Moors, and joined the M. E. church. He has been a true and faithful christian. He was married, May 28, 1881, to Miss Ruth Nephew, of Long Lake townshiup, and she, with four young children are left to mourn this loss. Mr. Youker was exceedingly popular and was the life and light of his circle of acquaintances. His death will be greatly regretted by all who knew him, and the family and large circle of relatives will have the deep sympathy of all in their sorrow.

The funeral services will be held at the family residence, No. 212 W. Ninth street, at 10 o'clock Saturday morning.

 ZIMMERMAN

 Joseph Zimmerman was born in 1847/1848 in Indiana (f=OH,m=IN). Joseph was married around 1872/1873 to Mary. Mary was born in 1841/1842 in Indiana (par=NC). In 1910, they lived with their son Arthur on his farm in Long Lake twp[6].
