Grand Traverse County Probate Files

The following index and abstracts of Grand Traverse County Probate Records were made by examining the microfilmed files available through the LDS Family History Centers. Each file is composed of numerous documents. Each side of the document that had writing was filmed. The number on the left side of each entry is the original image frame number or numbers for each document.Many documents took two or three or more film images because they were on legal sized paper or had multiple pages. When re-examining the filmed files you should be able to use this number to count the images and arrive at a specific document you wish to look at.

All personal names are spelled exactly as written in the originals. Researchers should search for all possible name variations. Sections in quotations are taken directly from the text without spelling corrections. Otherwise spelling has been changed to conform with modern usage. Long store accounts and inventories have not been transcribed item for item. Researchers will want to re-examine the files to learn what items their ancestors purchased or owned.
