Notes

Cockayne's "Complete Peerage" under the entry for Nicholas of Audley, on

p. 338 states : that "he (i.e. NICHOLAS) m. Catherine, da. of JOHN GIFFARD

[1st Lord Giffard of Brimpsfield], by his 1st wife, MAUD, widow of

WILLIAM LONGESPEE, (sometimes regarded as Earl of Salisbury), da. and

h. of WALTER DE CLIFFORD . . .". He also states that Catherine was living

as a nun at Ledbury in 1322.
