He came to America from the Isle of Wight off the southern coast of

England.

"The Wights" by William Ward White, says he was a soldier in the

Revolutionary War.

"Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files":

"John White, NH Line [Pvt], Nancy, W6475, sol appl 21 Apr 1818 in

Lincoln Co MA (ME) aged 64, sol m Nancy Robinson in Dec 1792 at

Pownalborough which later became Wiscasset ME, sol d 3 Sep 1832 at

Windsor ME & his wid appl 12 Mar 1839 at Hallowell in Kennebec Co ME

aged 67, on 11 Jun 1850 wid had moved to Crawford Co OH to live with a

daughter (not named) in Gallion OH & in 1850 wid stated she had 6

children of which the oldest was b in Sep 1793."
