He inherited his title and lands from his grandfather - his father having

predeceased his grandfather. He joined the army of the Black Prince and

was at Bordeaux in 1355/6. He was summoned to parliament

1357-1389. He greatly distinguished himself in the French wars. Made a

Knight of the Garter in 1368.

He died childless, after two marriages (the second was to Joan, the

sister of John, Duke of Brittany) and the barony became dormant.
