Yarmouth, Maine, regarding the ancestry of my great grandfather, Joseph

G. Mansfield, I received a response from Katherine P. Tinker. She cited no

sources. In that letter she wrote:

..."Stephen was born 1783 the son of Job and Mary (Hook) Bennett.

However, on the hand-drawn chart that she attached, Stephen is shown

as the son of Job Bennet and Mary Harridan and Mary Hook is shown as

Stephen's grandmother, the wife of another Stephen Bennett."

"Stone Sloops of Chebeague", chart, p. 96. "When Old Father Bennett was

preaching on Long Island, you could hear him on Chebeague - when he was

preaching on Chebeague you could hear him on Long."
