Cokayne's "Complete Peerage" (Eu, pp. 168-169). He became Count of Eu

by right of his wife, Marie, who was the heiress. King Louis IX of France

(RIN 4232*) knighted him at Jaffa in 1253. He was Chamberlain of

France from 1254 till his death. He was a proxy of King Louis to swear

peace with KING HENRY III OF ENGLAND (RIN 783) in 1258. Alfons

accompanied King Louis on his expedition to Africa in 1270 and died at

Carthage that year.

information was copied. No source is cited.

Rev. John Rogers was educated at Cambridge. Leaving there about 1525,

he took holy orders in the Roman Catholic Church about 1526, and from

that time on his life was one of turmoil and strife in the religious world.

He became a leader of the Anglican Reformation, and paid the penalty by

being burned at the stake on Februry 4, 1555, his children being forced to

witness the ordeal. He married Adriana Pratt, alias de Weyden, neice of

Jacob Von Meteren. They had eleven children.
