. ". . . Rose, a special child (because of childhood illness) was a little slow and remained home and helped crippled grandmother with household chores and cooking. Always busy with embroidery and other hand sewing, she also learned to cook those traditional merspises and suspises to tickle the palate. Kept home fires burning at 1634 Sibley until Grandfather's death on June 22, 1942. Grandmother died in 19__. Strange, on the day of his funeral, June 24, a great-granddaughter, Joan, was born in Elkhart.
. . . After household and house was sold, Rose went to live with the Resnik's until the Lord called her home in December, 1947."
Following is Rose's obituary from the 5 Dec 1947 edition of the "South Bend Tribune":
. Miss Rose Goepfrich, aged 41, of 830 Lawndale avenue, died at 10 p.m. Thursday in her residence after an illness of three months. She was born in South Bend Jan. 3, 1906, and spent her life here. Surviving are five brothers, Frank, George, JJoseph, Rudolph and Anthony, all of South Bend; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Renik [sic. - should be Resnick] and Mrs, Anna Crepeau, both of South Bend, and Mrs. Madeline Steltzer, of Summitt, N.J., Friends may call in the McGann funeral home after 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of funeral services.
