Notes

She was widowed in 1903, left to raise several small children. See

notes on her husband for details. The 1920 census shows her residing at

321 S, Walnut St. in South Bend, Indiana, with her Son-in-law and

daughter, Joseph & Helen Solomon. Catherine's 28 year old son, John,

was also a member of the household.

From the 26 April 1928 "South Bend Tribune":

Mrs. Catherine Jegier

Mrs. Catherine Jegier, age 61, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs.

Helen Salamon, 215 South Chestnut street, Tuesday night at 10:30

o'clock after an illness of two weeks of pneumonia. She was born in

Poland July 15, 1866, and has resided in this city 40 years, coming here

from Poland. Surviving are the following children: August, John, Leo, and

Frank Jegier, Mrs. Anna Radecki, Mrs. Salamon, Mrs. Bertha Bartoski, Mrs.

Valeria Peterson, Mrs. Genevieve Palkowski, all of this city; one sister,

Mrs. Mary Orzychowski, of South Bend; one brother, Michael Radomski, of

Poland, and 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral

services will be held in St. Hedwige's Roman Catholic church Saturday

morning at 9 o'clock, the Rev. Stanislaus Gruza, C.S.C., officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
