Notes

"Stone Sloops of Chebeague", chart, p. 128, indicates that he was known as "Captain Bill". Page 81, lists him as one of the captains of the stone sloop,"Leader", which hailed from Casco Bay until 1886. Page 74 lists him as a captain of stone sloop "Excursion", which hailed from Casco Bay before 1866.

The 1870 census for Westbrook Twp., Cumberland Co., Maine, p.503, (Ancestry.com image 145 of 166), lists W.H. Mansfield as a 37 year old [which would make him born about 1833] "mate steamer" (I think - handwriting very sloppy), real estate valued at $2000, personal estate

valued at $200, born in Maine. Enumerated in his household (all born in Maine):

The 1880 census for Deering [other townships, district 31], Cumberland Co., Maine (Ancestry.com image 46 of 51):

The LDS IGI lists his birth on 20 MAR 1831in Jonesport, Washington Co, Maine. I think the birthplace probably mistaken - the contributor was probably researching the Mansfields of Jonesport.
