"Stone Sloops of Chebeague" (1949), chart pp. 122 & 134. Page 123 tells

:"He married (1) Ann Sawyer . . . when she died in 1841 he married her

sister Phoebe, widow of John Henly Jr. In 1848 he bought his wives' paternal

homestead (Solomon Sawyer 3rd) from the other heirs. This includes the

present golf house. He was captain of the Sloop "Big" Hero at one time, but

he was better known as a farmer. Royal Bennett says that he remembers

that he has a big scow which he kept in the cove below his house. On it he

used to carry rockweed for dressing."

The 1860 census for Cumberland, Cumberland Co., Maine, Chebeague Island

(Ancestry.com image 41 of 44):

. David Hill, age 53, farmer, $1500 real estate, $300 personal estate, he

& entire household born in Maine.

. Phebe S., age 46.

. Matilda A., age 31.

. Horace, age 19, seaman

. David N. Henley, age 19, seaman

[There seems to be some confusion re. the above two individuals. "Stone

Sloops of Chebeague" states that Horace was the son of Phebe & her first

husband, John Henley, and that David N. was the son of David Hill & Phebe. It

also states that David's first wife, Ann, died in 1841, the year that both

Horace & David N. were born. Judging from the surnames given in the

census, it would appear that Ann probably died shortly after giving birth to

Horace and that David N. was the last son of Phebe and the recently

deceased John Henly (i.e. David's stopson)]

. William F. Hanson ?, age 30, seaman, real estate valued at $100,

personal estate valued at $50.

. Lucretia, age 26.

"The Homer Beers James Genealogy" on the www adds:

Maud FitzJohn was the widow of Girard de Furnival (See Burke, Pg. 225),

and one of the four daughters and co-heiresses of Richard FitzJohn [her

brother], son of JOHN FITZGEOFFERY, CHIEF JUSTICE OF IRELAND. She died

in 1301.
