Yarmouth, Maine, regarding the ancestry of my great grandfather, Joseph
G. Mansfield, I received a response from Katherine P. Tinker. She cited no
sources. In that letter she wrote:
..." Ebenezer's father Hezekiah and Hezekiah's brother Eleazar came to
Cousins Island in 1785, where they settled. Hezekiah is said to have
taken part in the Boston Tea Party and to have served for a short time in
the Revolution of 1776. He was of the fifth generation from the
immigrant ancestor John Hill who came to Dorchester, Mass. in 1636. He
married Eunice daughter of Ebenezer and Sarah (-) Collins. She was born
in 1758 and died in 1837."
"Stone Sloops of Chebeague", chart p. 122. Page 64 states that he "was an
Indian in the famous Boston Tea Party".
J. Gardner Bartlett's book, "John Hill of Dorchester, Mass., 1633, and Five
Generations of His Descendants", Hezekiah was a private in the
Revolution from Bridgewater in 1776. Later in life, he settled in North
Yarmouth, Maine.
