Bartrum's "Welsh Genealogies".

He became King of Deheubarth upon the death of his father in 986. He

consolidated the kingdoms of Wales and recreated the kingdom of his

grandfather, HYWEL. His reign, which lasted until his death in 999,

however, was marked by numerous defeats at the hands of marauding

Vikings. The Northmen apparently were even able to make a few

settlements in Wales during these years.

Maredudd had no surviving son. Gwynedd and Powys reverted back to

IAGO ap IDWAL (RIN 2579) of the line of ANARAWD ap RHODRI (RIN 2583).

I have been unable to determine what happened to the kingdom of

Deheubarth.
