Yarmouth, Maine, regarding the ancestry of my great grandfather, Joseph
G. Mansfield, I received a response from Katherine P. Tinker. She cited no
sources. In that letter she wrote:
..."Jacob's father was James Sawyer of Massachusetts."
Per "The Sawyer Family of Elliotsville (Piscataquis Co., Maine),
Descendants of James Sawyer of Gloucester, Mass. and Their Kinfolk, The
Drakes" 3rd ed, revised 1978-79, by Fred E. Sawyer (p.8):
...."Jacob. . . m. 2 Feb 1716, Gloucester, Sarah Wallis, chr. 25 Feb 1693/4,
Beverly, Mass., dau. Josiah Wallis and Mary Stanford. Jacob Sawyer
moved, with his family, to Falmouth, Maine in 1725.
