Notes

Thanks to Milton L. Fitts of Yarmouth Maine, who furnished me with a listing

of Fitts buried in the Webster Road Cemetery in Freeport, Maine. Cemetery

records confirm her birth and death dates.

Database 24290 on Ancestry.com. shows that Jonn Fitts married Eleanor

Googins and that John's son, Samuel Fitts, married another Eleanor

Googins who was the niece of John's Eleanor. Father & son married a woman

and her neice.

Per Weis' "Ancestral Roots. . ." (57:36), he was Lord Stanley of Latham

and Knowsley; M.P. 1432; K.G. 1456; Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. Also

mentioned (20:33) & (23:33), (233:36).

Cokayne's "Complete Peerage" (Stanley, p. 250/1), adds that he was

Constable of Chester Castle, Controller of the Household, Chamberlain of

North Wales, and Forester of Macclesfield. In 1445, he is referred to as

the King's Chamberlain.
